Changes at the top

Following the completion of the season I have been thinking about my future at the club and after some careful thought I have decided to step down as 1st team Manager. But rather than leaving the club in the lurch I have spoken to Murph and the committee about my feelings and I delighted to report that Murph has decided to re join the club to take over as 1st team Manager.

This was ratified at the Committee meeting last night and EP are now fully aware of the situation.

I have not taken the decision lightly but I think its fair to say that over the last 9 years I have dedicated myself to the club starting with youth football progressing through the ranks to become Res Team Manager and ultimately 1st Team Manager. Its funny I was eventually given the job that I always wanted albeit under difficult circumstances and if someone had said to me at the start of the season that you would survive in Div 1 achieve more points that the previous score more goals and play some good football along the way I would of taken it everytime - so the season was a massive success on a number of levels but I have not enjoyed it any where near as much as I should of done so a change was inevitable.

I will stay on at the club and will be happy to Asst Murph if he wishes.

Good luck for next season talking to Murph this morning I know that he is optimistic about the season and the return of a number of players who have clearly found out that the "grass is not greener".

Blimey, its more go than the Premiership

Sorry to hear that Jon, it was a difficult season and but for a couple of results we would have had a league position to represent the performances we put in (sometimes). Overall a good season I would agree.

Hope you are still around next year...as for Murph...I was hoping for the tinker man!

I knew of the decision last week and am sorry to see you step down, but glad you had the foresight to seek out a replacement before leaving. If one or two games had gone our way it might not have been so tight, but we achieved our aim for the season so well done and thank you.
Now it's time to look forward so good luck to Murf and Kelly next season.

I wonder what The Gazzette will have to say about it all??!!

I have to say...it was always going to be a hard season for both teams with the change of management and the change of players coming and going, but...the season turned out to be a season of consolidation and staying in each division - which both teams managed.

Jon has done a tremendous job managing the first team, with no real help from an assistant (was Paul there much, Roxy done 10 times a better job than Paul did) all season. Like Martin and Roxy said a couple of wins and we could and should have been sitting mid-table. There's a lot of positives to take from the season gone...the amount of goals scored, some of the attacking play and keeping some of the local players (Micheal Henricks and Stan Elder)

I do hope you stay on in some kind of capacity Jon, the club does and would benefit from your personal attributes you give.
We should embrace Murf has come back to AFC, the club will be a better place with him in charge. With hopefully Jon assisting him in some kind of capacity, the club can hopefully push forward further.

thanks guys I don't think the results were that significant in my decision but saying that if we had finished top lol.......

2 keys things enjoying it and feeling appreciated when you are traveling 40 miles my choice I know and there are 6 at training you do start to question yourself...

I will I am sure enjoy next season with you guys having a less active role.

With Murph back I have no doubt you guys will be challenging for honours next season.

Credit to everyone involved with 'sticking' with it last year, players always remember peoples reactions when they decide to move onwards and upwards, and credit to Angmering FC for supporting those guys and that will now be rewarded with them returning next season I would have thought.

Have heard the likes of Ollie, Stan, Swainy and the young keeper are all coming back, if true, I have every confidence you are in for an exciting season.
